How Does This Work?

You create a free account and set a Gmail filter to forward your Ingress email damage reports.

The damage reports are processed in realtime into the Outgress analytics and alerting engine.

That's the short version.

Is This Allowed?

We believe so, but you decide.

But My Secret Data!

No one on the opposing faction cares who on their team is attacking you. Do you care who on your team is attacking opposing portals?

Implemented Self flipped portals

There have been many times where I thought to myself, "if only I received the damage reports of smurfs using a Jarvis on their own portals to clear lanes".

I know there's not a lot right now but I think the recently self flipped portal data would be the most valuable asset to the opposing team.

I think it should be considered as Outgress is on the rise.

Yep... agreed. There are a couple issues in play here though.

Tracking self-flipped portals by Resistance via email damage reports is only possible if Resistance agents were sending email damage reports (there are none currently). That will change at some point. At some point, Outgress isn't going to be an Enlightened-only tool so it will be open to anyone who wants to use it regardless of faction.

That brings me to the next issue... Data is generally going to be isolated across faction (for example if someone leaves a public note about a portal, it's only available for their faction). But in the case of Resistance self-flipping portals (or Enlightened for that matter), you only know that if that team is sending data. And the value in that data to a player ultimately is based on data being fed in from someone on the opposing faction. Of course everyone is going to want to see the data (which is based on opposing faction), but also not help players on the opposing faction with their own data.

Right now I think the solution is going to be something like an "opt-out" for a player feeding in self-flipped portals (again, it really just helps the opposition). As part of that opt-out, that player also won't be able to see data fed in from the opposing faction. Which essentially comes down to this... if someone wants to see self-flipped portals being fed in by the opposing faction, they have to be willing to feed self-flipped portals into the system themselves. If you don't want to help the opposing faction with your data feed, that's fine too... you just won't be able to see data coming in from them either.

I think at the end of the day players will have to make a personal decision. Is not giving data to the opposing faction worth more to you than being able to see when the opposing faction is flipping their own portals, or not...

Either way, there's no way to see Resistance flipping their own portals based on email damage reports from Enlightened agents.

Can also exclude from the forward rule any emails that contain __JARVIS__ for resistance or __ADA__ for enlightened

True... Although I could see it becoming a support issue when you start dealing with multiple different filter/forwarding rules for different users.

From an ease of setup/support standpoint, it's going to be easier to have a single universal filter setup and handle the opt-out on our end (which is already being done). I'd like the forwarding setup help page to be smaller, not bigger. Lol

For the paranoid, they can do whatever they want. :)

Also - I wonder if an underscore is a searchable character (and not considered a word break) in Gmail. Would potentially not report attackers or portals with ADA/Jarvis in them. May not be the case, but maybe worth checking.

It's searchable if you put it in quotes. "__JARVIS__" or "__ADA__"
