How Does This Work?

You create a free account and set a Gmail filter to forward your Ingress email damage reports.

The damage reports are processed in realtime into the Outgress analytics and alerting engine.

That's the short version.

Is This Allowed?

We believe so, but you decide.

But My Secret Data!

No one on the opposing faction cares who on their team is attacking you. Do you care who on your team is attacking opposing portals?

Implemented Customize grace period on attack alerts

Discussion in 'Feature Requests' started by PupNibbler, Jun 13, 2016.

  1. There is a 5-minute grace period on alerts. E.g. if someone attacks portals constantly, you only get one alert. But if someone attacks, waits 10 minutes, attacks again, waits 5 minutes, attacks again, etc, then you get multiple alerts. I'd like the option to toggle this 5-minute period to a custom value per portal group individually.

Hmmm... that's a little more complicated than you would think on the surface. Not saying it can't be done, but the system is internally smart enough to not replicate alerts to the same destination even across different portal groups (and even across different users if needed).

For example, let's say you had a portal being attacked that was in more than one portal group (either both yours or one that is in someone else's portal group)... both sending alerts to the same destination channel (maybe like a public recharging channel with a lot of people in it).

Currently the system won't send the same alert to the same destination even if another user's portal group sent the alert to that destination. If you start allowing variable time outs on a per portal group basis, you throw a huge wrench into the existing system that prevents duplicate alerts. Again... not saying it's not possible, but I'm going to have to give some thought about how that would work internally because that really changes things in the guts.

This is done. You will find an "Alert Timeout" setting on a per portal group that allows you to set it between 1 and 15 minutes.

  4. You're awesome! This will be very useful. 5 minutes was a bit short for one of my areas. The enemies in the area are usually scrubs, and it could take them a LONG time to move from portal to portal, and the alerts were getting spammy.

  5. Excellent! I imagine this will be very useful for some portal groups. Thank you for implementing it!

  6. what if u are monitoring different portals? should i make a unique group for each?

    No, you don't need to.
