How Does This Work?

You create a free account and set a Gmail filter to forward your Ingress email damage reports.

The damage reports are processed in realtime into the Outgress analytics and alerting engine.

That's the short version.

Is This Allowed?

We believe so, but you decide.

Google made some changes to the Gmail API where you need to go through an exorbitant review process as they deemed some of the Gmail API scopes as "restricted". This involves hiring a third-party company (set by Google) to get into your code and perform audits. While that in itself isn't out of the question, the cost (which we would have to pay) runs about $50,000 for that company's service.

There's some info here about it if you want to read: https://developers.google.com/ident...ction-readiness/restricted-scope-verification

I'm not willing to pay the $50,000 review fee for this site (which makes no money). If you would like to pay the review fee, I'm happy to submit the code for review.

A more realistic way to import these days involves you exporting the email you want to have imported as sending those emails to us (which we have a tool to import). Since that doesn't involve you granting a third party access to your Gmail, it doesn't require the review process or Google's blessing.

There are a ton of articles/info about how to export Gmail to an MBOX file (the format needed for the import tool), but a pretty good one (that shows you how to export *just* emails with a certain label) is here: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/download-gmail-email-mbox-file
