How Does This Work?

You create a free account and set a Gmail filter to forward your Ingress email damage reports.

The damage reports are processed in realtime into the Outgress analytics and alerting engine.

That's the short version.

Is This Allowed?

We believe so, but you decide.

But My Secret Data!

No one on the opposing faction cares who on their team is attacking you. Do you care who on your team is attacking opposing portals?

Declined Area of Play from own damage reports

Discussion in 'Feature Requests' started by MaxEtMoritz, Jul 5, 2019.

  1. At the moment, the area of play for me is only determined by damage reports forwarded by others. But as i forward damage reports myself, the portals with a damage report from me could also be added to my area of play because i have put a resonator in them, otherwise i would not have received a damage report.

It's intentional for a couple reasons...
    1. The area of play is a weighted heat map. Meaning it takes into account time/date, not just location. Outgress doesn't know when a resonator/mod/link was deployed, so the map would need to stop taking time into account, and not sure how useful that would be at that point. Like would you consider my "area of play" some random portal I deployed a resonator on 4 years ago when I was on vacation? Again, without the "when" part, it's not very useful.
    2. Not sure how people would feel about giving the opposing faction info to help them. Using your own forwarded damage reports to build a map of where you have been might not be something users really love (giving the opposing faction a map that really only helps them).
Now if you are just looking for a map of where you have been (for yourself), it's already there... If you go to the Intel map here: https://outgress.com/intel/ then in the upper left, select "With Damage Report From You". Now you have a map of every portal it's ever gotten a damage report from you at irrespective of time/date. And only YOU can view it.

  3. Ok well didn't think about that, makes a lot of sense!
